The Italian Society for Optics and Photonics (SIOF), in the spirit of promoting the study and development in optics and photonics, issues a call for one award of € 1000,00 (euros onethousand,00) for the best Ph.D. thesis. The prize will be delivered as a contribution to the attendance expenses for a conference, school, or any other similar activity, at the request of the winner.

The prize is dedicated to young members who carried their activity at Italian Universities and/or Research Centers and whose thesis has optics and photonics as its main subject.

To apply for the call, the candidates must have a valid SIOF membership, a master degree awarded between 01/01/2024 and 31/12/2024.

A committee nominated by the SIOF Board will select the most valuable contribution for the prizes based on:

• the evaluation by the Ph.D. committee;

• all works published or in press, including publications on national and international journals, conference and workshop proceedings, internal notes, patents and any other documents attesting the ability acquired by the candidate in the fields of optics and photonics;

• the thesis abstract.

The prizes will be announced and, if possible, compatibly with the commitments of the winners, delivered to them during a SIOF event that will be promptly communicated.
